What does it mean to be Gorean or a Gorean man?

"Act with honor" - This basically means it's expected that all that enter treat others with respect.  Be honest, dominant, in control of yourself before you start to take control of another - meaning a slave.  Respect boundaries of other men and their slaves.  Know what you can do before you do it - ask questions, learn, observe.

Slaves (kajira) are here to serve the pleasure of men but that is not what makes a man Gorean.  Gorean men do not exist for the pleasures of slaves, they enjoy freedom, are honorable, strong in what values they live their life by and have conviction in their actions, thoughts and choices in life.  Gorean men know what they want and live their life getting it.  Slaves merely serve Gorean men.  Slaves are not their focus.  A slave enhances a Gorean man's freedom with ownership.

Handling slaves - slaves serve, they strive to be pleasing and want to earn affirmation when they have served your pleasure.  If you easily compliment a slave then she is uncomfortable.  Be hard, then praise.  Example:  If a slave fetches you water, don't praise her for simply fetching it.  She is doing what she exists for and you will confuse her.  Praise must be meaningful and warranted.  The more a slave works to garner your praise, the more she will want to please you.  Be greedy with your compliments until they are earned.  Would you compliment a dog for wagging its tail? No.  But you would if the dog did something specifically that you've trained them to do and did it well.

Don't make everything about slaves.  Gor is a huge banquet and slaves are the condiments.  You wouldn't have a fancy dinner and only talk about the salt and pepper?  Same goes for Gorean men and slaves.  The home, the other men, discussions, engagement, being who you are are critically important to be established.

Don't come in, go straight to getting a slave and run off to PM.  You wouldn't do that in someone's home - you'd get to know everyone first.

Be strong.  Gorean men are not led by their emotions or their sexual desires.  They are in control of themselves.  If all you care about is slave girls, the men will notice as will the slaves.  Which do you want, a girl begging you or you asking a slave to serve you? It's all in how you handle yourself.

Be passionate!  Gorean men love life, freedom, courage, honor, and strength.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.  The Ops in the Home are very knowledgeable and want you to succeed.  Ask questions, learn from the other men, gain knowledge from their wisdom.  Read the Gorean novels, visit our #Turian_Library, there are no better examples than what's in the books.

Don't go straight to sex with slaves.  Learn the slave, get to know them, ask questions.  Mastering a slave is not fucking.  Knowing what makes them tick, what drives their needs to please, what they like and don't like.  Any man can give an order, Gorean men master women.

​Learn Gorean culture and what the environment is and take part in it.  Some basics: 

• Men sit on furs. 

• Free greet each other with the word "Tal" and they use "greetings" for slaves. 

• You may call a slave to you that is voiced - which means they are available to serve.

• Slaves with a {T} on their names are owned by the home. 

• Slaves approach in a position called nadu (kneeling with thighs parted) and will beg your pleasure.  This means you may send the slave to fetch a drink, haul them into your lap, get a massage while you talk with others, have a discussion, use them to warm your feet, etc.  Visit "Sex and Slaves" for more information on that. 

• Basic drinks:  Black wine is coffee. There are other drinks such as Turian Wine, Kalana (Wine), Mead, and Paga. 

• Engage when being served!  Don't just let a slave "put on a show" make comments, keep her engaged, make her miserable that she's not back at your feet!

• Banter, discussions and having fun are always welcome. 

• Don't pm a slave unless you call her to you in the home.  They are not permitted to speak to men privately unless they are in their service. 

• Sex is consensual.  Do not slap, or abuse a slave.  Goreans are seldom cruel. Whatever two individuals consent to and do in private is their own business. 

• Slaves beg to go afk, to return and to leave - any man may give permission. 

• Home slaves wear silks and a steel collar.  They can be leashed, wrists bound, tethered, bound at your feet if you wish. 

• Do not feed a slave from your hand.  This custom has significance and can mean a slave accepts ownership from you.  This is not enforced in Turia but slaves understand this meaning.
