"Do you lose many girls to madness?" I asked.
”Surprisingly," said Flaminius, "no."
"Why is that?" I asked.
"It probably has much to do with the selection of the girls, who tend to be strong, intelligent and imaginative. The imagination is important, that they can comprehend the enormity of what has occurred to them." "How could you convince them they are not insane?" I asked.
Flaminius laughed. "We explain what has happened to them. They are intelligent, they have imagination, they will have understood the possibility before, though not considering it seriously, and will, in time, accept the reality."

Not for these purposes, but do you consider imagination a very important trait for a slave to have? It seems many slaves are geeky. In what ways are you or yours geeky? Does it make them more or less desirable? Do men prefer to have some things that are just for men or do they like to involve you in everything they do?
To a certain extent, she sees imagination as imperative to even conceptualize something outside of the relationships seen everyday. To be able to know that there should be something else, then look for it… This one is very much a geek, but more in an academic sense than technologically. Men prefer girls who can talk to Them in the hours before and after sex; while sex is an important way to connect, a relationship built on just that will fail. Having common interests is important in any relationship, even among siblings. Having divergent interests allows for discussion to happen, explaining the basics, then recounting events that the other party did not experience. It allows for a girl to show her devotion by going along (occasionally, rarely) to something she really doesn’t like, and only the One she serves has a clue about her true feelings. There will always be things for just the Free, for just Men, and frankly, in her opinion, things that slaves do and Men want no part of doing. Those divergences keep interest piqued, no matter how many things Man and slave may enjoy together. At it’s most basic, to her? Man and slave have a relationship based on an enjoyed dynamic that celebrates the differences between Men and women while drawing both closer together. Being able to talk about Trek and other things together is great. But not everything needs to be, or should be, shared.
